Is the Big Bang Biblical?

This is an unusual question for this book, as it poses ten questions that roll into the main one.   Some of the issues have no conflict with the old earth viewpoint, and they will not be mentioned (questions 1 thru 5).  It should be pointed out that young earth creationism has many difficult questions, since the scientific evidence is contrary to their position.

In question six, Morris asks what about the dinosaurs.  In this, he gives a two sentence answer, saying there is much evidence for humans and dinosaurs living together.  All of this evidence has been thoroughly disproven by old earth creationists and secular scientists.  For more, see our Dinosaur Articles.

Morris asks if Carbon-14 dating is reliable.  Surprisingly, he says it is only reliable for the most recent 3,000 years.  However, the principle behind carbon dating for the last 3,000 years, and for the period older than 3,000 years, is the same!  Of course, if he said it was reliable, since some dates are as old as 50,000+ years, it would disprove his version of creation.

Morris asks if the earth is billions of years old.  His response is to question radiometric dating, which is reliable, despite his claims.  For more, see Radiometric Dating: A Christian Perspective, and our Radiometric Dating section.  At the end, he claims that the "real facts fit the concept of a young earth."  In over 25 years of study, I have yet to see any valid evidence for a young earth.

Is there evidence for Noah's Flood?  The geologic evidence supports an old earth.  There is none which supports a global flood.  The only way to get this is to misinterpret the data (Morris "found what he was looking for, not what the data supported).

Finally, he asks if creation is a side issue.  To this, I refer you to the words of Billy Graham, perhaps the greatest evangelist of our time.

There are correct answers to all these questions...but they are not what Morris wants to hear.

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.  Click here for more.
