The June 2005 issue of Creation magazine has an article titled
    “Tigers and pigs…together?”   The author,
David Catchpoole, tells about a zoo in Thailand that uses pigs
    to feed baby tiger cubs.1
As a creationist myself, it is easy to see where the
author of the article is going.  After the creation, before Adam
sinned, there was peace between the animals.  It was only after the
fall of man, and the curse, that the animals resorted to their carnivorous
    activity.
Unfortunately, this is a young earth misinterpretation
of the Bible.  Yes, the animals were indeed peaceful, but which animals
are we talking about?  One must understand that the Garden of Eden, the
location that Adam called home, was a special place.  It was created as
a separate, distinct environment, different from the world outside the
Garden.  Inside the Garden there was peace among the animals, but
outside, God let the natural laws of nature, including carnivorous activity,
    occur unabated.
Why did God need this special place?  In Eden He
gave Adam a vision of paradise.  After he lost this paradise through
his sin, he could look back at what he had lost, as well as us looking
forward to what we will enjoy in the future.
If you don’t think this reasoning is true, then answer
this question.  Why was the Garden created as a special place, separate
from the rest of the world?  God could have placed Adam anywhere on the
planet.  The very specific creation of a special Garden testifies that
the Garden was vastly different from the rest of the world.
