N11:  The Vapor Canopy Theory

Edited by Greg Neyman

Argument:

Prior to the flood there was a vapor canopy above the earth's atmosphere.  This canopy supplied the water for the rains of Noah's Flood

Response:

  1. A canopy of vapor would have to contain superheated water, which would have boiled off prior to the flood

  2. A canopy of ice would contain enough gravitational potential energy to boil it when it fell, essentially poaching everything on earth

  3. The earth would have been uninhabitable before the flood.  The greenhouse effect from the canopy would have killed everything

  4. The old earth, local flood scenario does not rely on such faulty theories.  A local flood does not need imaginary vapor canopies to explain it
