Old Earth Ministries Reviews

Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church in Canada and the Americas
Ecumenical Orthodox Catholic Church

Episcopal Church -  USA

     A review of the Episcopal Catechism revealed no statements about the creation.  A search of their site revealed a Forum article on Creation and Evolution.  In it, several answers are given, both for and against Theological Evolution.  Both positions are accepted by ministers in the church.

     Based on the above, it is acceptable for a member of the Episcopal church to believe in an old earth.

Episcopal Missionary Church

Episcopal Orthodox Church

     This Episcopal denomination holds to the 39 Articles of Religion, which contain no reference to the length of creation.  A review of their Constitution and Canons page revealed no information about creation.  There should be no problems for an old earth believer in this denomination.

     A review  of their Doctrines page revealed no statements about the creation.  Their Position Statement page contained the following statements on creation;

There are three creative acts of God recorded in the first chapter of Genesis: (1) the heavens and the earth; (2) animal life, and (3) humans created, not evolved.

God created the earth and all life, and we believe in the fall of man as opposed to evolution.

     Based on this, it appears that belief in theistic evolution would be contrary to their position.  For old earth believers who are progressive creationists, there should be no problems with being a member of this denomination.

     A review of the ELCA website showed that they do not have a policy regarding the age of the earth, and they acknowledge that God may have used evolution during the creative process.  There should be no problems for an old earth believer in this denomination.      A review of their Beliefs page shows no statements concerning the age of the earth.  No other pages on their website mentions creation, therefore it appears that they have no requirements concerning creation science.  Based on this limited information, we encourage people who are interested in this denomination to check out the individual church and see if they are tolerant of old earth belief.

Can You Be A Christian and Believe in an Old Earth?

Feel free to check out more of this website.  Our goal is to provide rebuttals to the bad science behind young earth creationism, and honor God by properly presenting His creation.
