Dr. John's Q&A #76, April 1995

Is Creation or Evolution More Empirical?

This question was published in Dr. John's Q&A by John Morris in April 1995.  This really depends upon who you ask.  Morris will naturally claim that creation is, whereas evolutionists will answer the opposite.  It would be impossible to get an unbiased answer.

Given the inherent bias of this question, it would be pointless to answer it fully.  However, several points deserve attention.  Morris says that there has never been a truly beneficial mutation.  This is not true...what he means is there are none that he is willing to accept.  Evolutionists do point to beneficial mutations.   Morris says creation teaches that there should not be any, and claims evolutionists are still looking for one...Morris is unwilling to acknowledge any in the first place, even if they occurred, as evolutionists claim they have.

Morris says that spontaneous generation of life from non-life has been disproved.  This presents no problems for old earth creationists, including theistic evolutionists.  With God involved in the creative process, or with evolution, He provides this generation of the first life form.

Morris says the fossil record is replete with gaps, and lack of any transitional fossils.  Actually, this is similar to the mutations argument, as young earth creationists are unwilling to accept any transitional fossils (see link for more).

Morris attacks astronomy with the last argument, but none of his points are valid.  Morris, in other articles, claims that the big bang weakens with each discovery.  This is not true.  The big bang continues to get stronger, as each discovery strengthens it, further refining the theory.    Some discoveries which call certain features of the big bang into question, in the end cause a modification of the big bang, making it stronger.  He mentions that astronomers have never observed a star forming from gas.  Since we cannot see gas, and only see it once the star starts to burn, this is not a surprise.

Morris sees what he wants to see.  His model has more empirical evidence than evolution, because he approaches this with his young earth bias.  This proves nothing, other than the fact that he (and evolutionists) are biased in their beliefs.

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.  Click here for more.

Are you a Christian who believes in young earth creationism?  Now that we have shown the many difficulties of the young earth creation science model in this and many other articles, how does this impact your Christian life?  If you are a young-earth creationism believer, click here.
