TTMCLS - Things That Make Christians Look Stupid:  Anthropologists

Review by Greg Neyman

One of the series of articles on Creation Science Evangelism website (the “Hovind” site) is creatively titled “Things that make evolutionists look stupid” (TTMELS for short).  The subtitle then goes on to introduce the topic for the article.  The article we shall consider in this commentary is "Anthropologists". 1

Anthropologists

Hinton tells the story of some anthropologists who are disgusted by the legal system in Pakistan.  Later, when one of the same anthropologists cannot understand why his students don't accept culteral relativism, he is critical of the anthropologist.  He goes on to say of the anthropologist,

This anthropologist was the one who could not think, not his students, and he proved himself to be unable to reason at even an elementary level. These are the people that call themselves scientists. They are the ones that present us with the most illogical, inconsistent, wild, baseless theories based on deceit, fabrications, and fallacious premises. Nothing makes evolutionists look more stupid than what they themselves say.

He unjustly characterizes all scientists based on the anthropologist in question.  He takes a random, one out of a million scientists opinion, and claims this applies to them all.  How stupid is that?

What is even more revealing...the article has absolutely nothing to do with evolution.  For all we know, the anthropologist may not have been an evolutionist at all.  Just because he was a "scientist," Hinton stereotypes him as an evolutionist.  Sure, he probably was, but this is a random sample of an evolutionist (one out of a million), and you cannot characterize all based on a single example.

Conclusion

The article presents no scientific evidence to condemn evolution...it doesn't even address any issue related to biological evolution.

Just like the other articles in this series, it calls evolutionists "stupid."  If we are to love the unsaved, and win them for Christ, calling them “stupid” is not the proper way to do it.  This will turn more away from the Gospel, and harden their hearts.  Driving them away from the Gospel is working against Christ.  Hinton appears to be working against Christ.

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.  Click here for more.
